I was running XP on a 700mhz P3 and it was running fine. Minimum specs I believe for running xp is 350mhz processor and 64mb ram, however it will run really, really slow.

Hi,
Usually when your PC starts to get slow, it has registry issues which can be best resolved with the use of a registry cleaner. XP is a very user friendly OS and there aren't many issues if you have it updated regularly.

Looking at your Memory i`d say it`s that, because it`s SDram which was before DDR and thus soooo much slower.and it can only do one word of date per cycle, where as DDR1 doubles that.

But i`d try the following.

Check to see what programs start automatically in the toolbar(bottom right) when the pc boots/starts up.And if they`re ones you think you don`t need, like just for an example, microsoft word, then they`ll be either the cause or part of the cause for you slow pc.To stop them from starting go to Start bar > run > msconfig> startup then untick anyboxes matchign the programs you don`t want, but makesure you definetly know that they`re the programs you don`t want.

Or the safer way:
Download revo unistaller(http://www.revouninstaller.com/), and go to hunter mode and it`ll come up with a blue box with a crosshair, you then click hold and drag that over the program you don`t want to run at startup, then you release the click and then select stop auto starting(its under unistall)

Personally if you can i`d advise downloading revo unistaller as,it has different tools on it, like an unistaller, which is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy(recurring) better then the add or removes programs, as when you remove a program it still leave traces of it in the registry which clogs up the hard drive, where as with RU it`ll delete the WHOLE program.
It also has the following:

Here is the list of the tools and utilities included in Revo Uninstaller:

Auto Start Manager - Stop programs that start automatically on Windows startup; speed up loading of Windows!

Windows Tools Manager - Handy and useful tools bundled with every version of Windows; easily find useful system tools and options!

Junk Files Cleaner - Find and remove unnecessary files from your computer; free up disk space and delete files you do not need!

Browsers History Cleaner - Erase web browser history, visited pages history and temporary internet files of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and Opera web browsers; free up a lot of disk space by deleting temporary internet files like temporary saved videos, temporary flash files, temporary pictures etc!

Office History Cleaner - Remove the history of most recently used files in MS Office; remove your tracks by deleting the list of last opened MS Office documents!

Windows History Cleaner - Remove the history of recently opened files, delete temporary files, remove usage tracks and other history items that are saved by Windows; remove your tracks saved by Windows for a lot of operations!

Unrecoverable Delete Tool - Erase files and folders forever; be sure that nobody could recover your files and folders after deleting!

Evidence Remover - Make sure already deleted files, folders and other data are unrecoverable; securely erase your data!

Hope i`ve been of some help,
