Pc Shuts Off Whenever It Feels Like It

My PC keeps shutting down for no aparent reason all the time everyday. I think it might be some sort of virus but I really have nothing to back that up with.MY OTHER THOUGHT IS THE POWER SOURCE When it shuts down the only way I can turn it back on is to turn off the surge protector its plugged into, then wait a few min. then turn it back on. At first it was only happening later at night around midnight. But now it seems to do it all the time. Few times a day. After turning the surge protector off and then on, usually I need to let the thing sit for a few minutes then it will turn back on. Sometimes when I start the PC back up again, within 10 sec of pushing on, it shuts right down again. Then it usually comes on and works. COULD THIS BE VIRUS? IF SO HOW CAN I REMEDY THIS? MY VIRUS SCANS DONT PICK UP ON ANYTHING. OR IS IT MY POWER SUPPLY? PLEASE HELP.

I'm having a similar issue and I checked the temps and so far it doesn't seem to be the case. As a result I'm buying a new PSU and then setting it up tonight to rule out the idea of it being a temp problem..

Thanks

My temps are running ok. The damn powersource is really loud........I also think it is the power supply. I bought it less than year ago. Its 500w. and like I said it has always been really loud. I am getting the shits of it turning off all the time.

well

sounds like its definately the power supply because my old pc would do that and i put it in the shop and they said it was the power supply
