PC Upgrade

Hey guys,

First of all, im new here and im preorderme :)

I play alot of games like battlefield 3, call of duty, Runescape, World of warcraft and more.

Now my computer needs a upgrade !

My Budget is 300 Euro's (The Netherlands)

I have found this:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition = € 83,40 (3.4Ghz Quad Core)
Asrock 870 Extreme3 R2.0 = € 56,90
Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 = € 32,95 (2x4GB 1600Ghz Ram)
AMD 6950HD 2GB Dubble Fan = € 120

= 293 Euro's

This is how much it costs in The Netherlands.

But the question is !
Is this a good set or not ? some of my friends say it is a little bit old for now .. or is it still okay for gaming ?

i got everything like HDD's, the case etc. i only need the CPU, GPU, Motherboard and RAM.

Its not that i really want AMD if you can correct me with something better from intel or something better from AMD i really want to hear it !

EDIT: I really want to play on ultra, but if i can play on high with a really nice FPS im really happy :)
and i dont need AA (because it drops your FPS)

"Old" is a bit of an overstatement. Although those parts are not completely up to date they are by no means low end. Currently I am using an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 which I have over clocked to 3.0Ghz, Also I am using an Asus EAH5770 at stock speeds and I can run most modern games at relatively high settings. So by the looks of what you have chosen I think those parts fit your budget well although I would take a look at the sales over at NCIX as they usually sell very good processor and motherboard bundles. They have a new sale every week so check back often and I can asure you that you will find a wonderful deal on a processor and motherboard.

The problem is that they dont sell to the netherlands :(

Do you think the X4 965BE is outdated for gaming for now ? and should i choose another CPU ? or do you think i can use the X4 965BE for a while ?

Some people i know says that a i3 3220 is better than that X4 965BE, is that true ?

In general intel is better than amd, plus at the rate executives are leaving amd they might not be around in the future.

I had an amd x3 unit, even a basic intel duo core cpu out scores it.

I would go for an intel base, due to better preformance and easier to sell on in the future.

Depending on your budget the intel i3 2100 is great value for a cheap price that is why i went for it, but if your budget allows the higher you go the better.
 
The problem is, i dont see anybody gaming with the i3, do you have any proof the i3 2330 or the 2100 is faster than the X4 965 ?

i dont care about selling it in the future, i just wanna game with it now.
 
Out of those certainly the intel base.

The 6950 is a slightly better card, but no huge difference, but the i5 2500k is probably the best all round cpu available today and i have heard it is a great overclocker.

Many people on here have that cpu

Let me tell you as an user who actually used the same specs (6950 and 965 BE); they worked flawlessly. I could play almost any games smoothly, very slight FPS spikes here and there but of course, the 6950 is a previous generation model compared to the nowadays' 7950 etc...
So in short, gaming will be fine as I played games like L4D2, Aion; and the game Aion at ultra high settings will kill your system (still getting owned with GTX 670 FTW with i5-3570K atm)

ABove mentioned are all at stock speeds.
** jamesd1981 is right on the subject though, if you can increase your budget, you can get i5-2500K with a very cheap cpu cooler + gtx series like 660ti :)
