Pc wont boot

I turned my pc on and at first it said no something please inster the disk, so i rebooted and this time it got as far as the windows splash screen and the bar started going across then it stopped and and i saw a quick glimps of a bsod and it when back to the post screen so i tried safe mode and last best known configuration but nothing helped, i haven't installed anything to give the bsod so im thinking hardware. any advice please.
 
Is this a new pc?
If you used the hard drive out of a diffrent computer or changed motherboards you need to reinstall windows.
 
Could be windows is messed up and will need re-installing or maybe theres a problem with the Hard drive itself.
 
No its a pc i built three years ago, i will try reinstalling the o/s but because it gets so far sometimes through to the windows splash screen and other times says missin nt something and please insret the cd, also sometimes it just freezes on the post screen i an thinking maybe memory or power supply.
