Yesterday, I added another 512 memory module to my current 512. After I inserted the card, I started my PC and after 30 minutes of browsing, my PC shut down and not starting back again. When I press the power button, the sound goes.... tooooooooooot...... tooooooooooooot...... tooooooooooooot..

I brought it to nearest PC repair shop and the technician told me the problem is motherboard.... Any idea if he is correct? I am using my laptop right now and I can't afford to lose all content of my desktop.. thanks

What model is your Motherboard, if you get a Manuel it tells you that the beeps mean

I think its Jetway PM2M/PM2M2. It's an old computer. Got it last 2004 but I can't throw it away because of very important software installed... It still doing good until last night...

well the beep codes for that board are...

Long beeps in an endless loop: No DRAM install or detected

One long beep followed by three short
beeps :Video card not found or video card memory
bad

High frequency beeps when system is
working :CPU overheated
System running at a lower frequency

Remove both memory stick from the motherboard and boot up, with no memory.

If you still get the 3 beeps then the motherboard is dead.

Also try resetting the BIOS.
