PC won't start up?

Hello guys

I have a problem with my TOSHIBA laptop. Since days it wont start up...

this is what I get:

first I get a black screen, then sometimes I can choose some functions like normall start up, safe mode etccc otherwise I get another black screen. Then a bit later it finally shows me windows xp screen starting up. but it takes forever and eventually just shuts down

anything I can try? I kinda need help fast cause there is a document on there I need on wednesday...

How old is your computer? Sounds like it is having a hard time accessing the HDD. Download a copy of Puppy Linux, do not install it just run the cd. With it you can do a HDD check and even access your Windows Files to move them from the HDD to another HDD or a usb.

You need a blank cd and burn this ISO.

Put the disc in and boot from cd, if it won't boot from cd then you have a memory problem because when you boot from the cd it stores in your memory.

Thx I allready got the file by now using HIREN boot cd...
my laptop is pretty old, not sure how old
its a toshiba satelite A110-153, I got new hdds installed couple months ago...

I dont really care for the laptop anymore since I ordered a new dell laptop
but I still need all the files on it and dont wanna spend a lot of money in a pc shop
