PC won't start up?

Hello guys

I have a problem with my TOSHIBA laptop. Since days it wont start up...

this is what I get:

first I get a black screen, then sometimes I can choose some functions like normall start up, safe mode etccc otherwise I get another black screen. Then a bit later it finally shows me windows xp screen starting up. but it takes forever and eventually just shuts down

anything I can try? I kinda need help fast cause there is a document on there I need on wednesday...

How old is your computer? Sounds like it is having a hard time accessing the HDD. Download a copy of Puppy Linux, do not install it just run the cd. With it you can do a HDD check and even access your Windows Files to move them from the HDD to another HDD or a usb.

You need a blank cd and burn this ISO.

You can get free legal iso burners from cnet.com

Put the disc in and boot from cd, if it won't boot from cd then you have a memory problem because when you boot from the cd it stores in your memory.

Thx I allready got the file by now using HIREN boot cd...
my laptop is pretty old, not sure how old
its a toshiba satelite A110-153, I got new hdds installed couple months ago...

I dont really care for the laptop anymore since I ordered a new dell laptop
but I still need all the files on it and dont wanna spend a lot of money in a pc shop

Reformat

I would boot in safe mode, then back up your data, then reformat the hard drive.

safe mode isnt working, but linux poppy is

im doing that back up thing now

Boot from your Windows disk and delete all the partitions and then make the new one and install Windows on it.

I dont have my windows disks anymore hence I use poppy linux

If you can't afford a Windows disk, then just install Linux.

LoL you won't be able to install Windows without the Windows disk xD
Either borrow it from someone or buy it.
