The Pc3 memory is not even worth the money! What OS will you be running b/c that is a major factor?
 
I feel pretty safe saying 2-3GB would outperform 1GB at any speed today. As said above, DDR3 isn't worth the money yet. It's still very new, and I don't believe it's tremendously faster than DDR2. On top of that, an OS such as Vista almost requires 2GB of RAM to run worth anything.
