PCI bus issue

i would like to avoid having to buy a new board so i wanna try and fix the following tiny problem:

I turn on the computer and during the POST i get an error code that means that there was a PCI bus failure. first obvious thing would be to remove all PCI cards. i removed all except the video card cause obviousy i need it. still same problem.

so then i remove the PCI card and as i expected the error code for no video device came up without ever getting to the problem about the bus. i tried two different video cards, one PCI and one AGP and there's the same issue.

i'm convinced that the issue is on the board. so if anyone has any other ideas other than get a new motherboard i would love to hear them.

thanks in advance

is this a custom built pc or from a manufacturer? If it is, it may be under warrenty, if its custom, you might be able to return the board.

And how old is this computer?

by the sounds of whats happening and what you've already done to combat it i would definately say that your board is dead, or at least part of it is. RMA it if you can

yes i have reset the cmos but it didn't fix the problem.

the warranty expired 2 years go, i already have two other pc's i just figured i'd use this one as a server since i've got all the extra parts but apparently not the mobo.

anyone know where i can find a cheap mobo that will support a PIII (don't know what socket) and 384 megs of pc133 sdram?

or maybe another idea to solve the currrent issue?

thanx for your help so far
