PCI-E 2.0 x16 compared to PCI-E x16 (regular)

Are you able to stick a PCI-E 2.0 x16 video card into a regular PCI-E x16 and visa versa(regular into a 2.0 slot?) I heard from someone you can, but I'm making sure if you can or not.

Yes it will work. There were some VIA chipset boards that had a PCIe 1.0 slot that had a hard time with PCIe 2.0 cards. But most were fixed with a bios update.
