PCI-E help

how can I tell if my motherboard's PCI-E port is 2.0 or any other version? I'm trying to get a new video card, but I'm having troubles because I can't figure this out. And please, don't say download the Belarc Advisor, because I've been told this can help, but it doesn't say anything about it.

GPU-z will tell you what slot you have.

A PCI-e 2.0 card will work in a PCI-e 1.0 slot, just like a PCI-e 1.0 card will work in a PCI-e 2.0 slot.
