PCI-Express X1 Drive Slot?

This may be a stupid question, but what is the point of the PCIEx1 drive slot? Are there any cards that support it? It seems that all of the video cards are PCIEx16 and every other card is an older PCI card, yet my motherboard has more PCIEx1 slots than all others combined. :confused:
 
PCIe cards are starting to come out. They are things like gigabit ethernet cards and USB controllers
 
We're starting to see more Express PCI slots on mobos these days. Do you think they stop manufactoring mobos with AGPs slots soon enough?
