PCI-X Card: 512 X800XL or 256 X850XTPE?

Should i get a SAPPHIRE 100116SR Radeon X800XL 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail for $379, a SAPPHIRE 100101SR-RD Radeon X850XT PE 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail for $489, or a 7800GTX for $479?
 
The geforce 7800GTX is the best video card out right now. On a side note I hope you not buying this for the computer you have in your sig.

as far as i know doesnt that board has a pci-e slot.. so i dont think so.

anyway, dont buy the 512mb x800. it only has a 2% improvement of performance compared to the 256mb version.
id go with the x850. or as the others said a 7800GTX (if it doesnt matter if its ati or not ofcourse ;) .
 
If you have patience, wait until ATi releases their R520 Architecture. If the info is correct, these cards will drop the 7800GTX to its knees. Probably be pretty damn expensive but the 7800GTX is too. It should debut in September. Th new chips are supposed to support up to GDDR 3 memory clocked to 1.8GHz effective (900Mhz core memory clock). The core has been reported to run at 700MHz and support up to 32 pixel pipelines! The gtx has a core clock of 430 and a memory clock of 1200 effective (600 Mhz core memory clock)

Neither are PCIX cards they are PCIE (aka PCIx16) :)

Yes but by that logic, you might as well wait for nVidia's next release ... and ATi's next release after that.....

Sounds like an impressive memory clock but core clock dont mean all that much because damn ATi chips are clock inefficient ;)

He had a more expensive card than the 7800gtx, the x850xtpe, so if he can afford, he might as well get it right? :D

the 7800 gtx... just because the 850xtpe cost a tiny bit more doesnt mean its better. the 7800 is the next generation card
 
but.. with AA and AS 8x.. the x850xtpe is gaining on the 7800GTX.. and even gets the same performance..
but without AA and that stuff,.. the x850xtpe is grinded to dust.. then the 7800GTX has about a 25% advantage in performance ;)

Unless you know where to get a 7800GTX for more then $100 less then it is at newegg the 7800GTX is a good amount more expensive then the x850XT PE.
