If my friend orders an asus mobo that is x16 pcie and has the new 8800gs it wont bottleneck because of the mobo not being 2.0 will it?

its backwards compatible.
obviously in a pci-e 2.0 slot it might do a little better. but not worth buying a more expensive motherboard for.
