PCIe x1 Support PCIe x16 graphics card??

Hi so I have recently been given an "ASUS EN8600GT Silent, 512mb" graphics card that has a PCIe X16 slot on it, I have already got a "Nvidia Geforce GT220, 1G". But seeing as I now have two cards I thought I might as well put the other one in too. Unfortuantly my motherboard only has one PCIe x16 slot so I had a look online and found this bad boy .

Will that work? Will the graphics card have a really bad performance? Will it slow my computer? Will it even fit in my computer (Dell Studio XPS)?
Basically is it worth it for £22, or should I just not bother?

P.S. I do eventually want two monitors and I was going to run two off my current card, but I would rather have a card for each monitor. Is it going to be cheaper to buy a different graphics card that runs on a PCIe x1 slot or will it be better to use this one I have been given.

Any light on the situation would be awesome.

I can post pics of my pc slots and pics of the graphics cards and give any specs if needed.

The card would work, however you would need to cut the back of the PCIE x1 connector out on the board(Note- i DO NOT recommend this, if you attempt to do this and damage your PCIE x1 Slot, i take NO responsibility), unless it is already an open ended PCIE x1 connector.

However...performance is not going to change by running dual monitors on a single card unless you are gaming.

So the performance of the card wouldnt be reduced? So say I was just gaming with one monitor having the extra card will help, and increase my overall performance as much as it would if the card was connected using a x16 slot?
