The PCIe x16 on my motherboard isn't reading my Video Card, when i put the Card in x16_1 and x16_3 there is no picture and 3 second beep when comp boots up. but when i put it in x16_2 there is picture but when it is showing system information i get the message "The graphics Card detected in PCIE X16_2 or 3 SLI slot. Please move to PCIE X16_1 for non-SLI operation". any thoughts on how to change the primary PCIE slot? i tried the BIOS but was only able to change from PCIE to PCI.

my pc is:
EVGA nForce 680i SLI Motherboard
Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
4 GB RAM
e-GeForce 8600GTS 256MB

Please ensure you power cable is plugged into the graphics card. Also post your PSU make and model to ensure enough power is getting to the card as I am suggesting this is the issue.

everything is plugged in, the PSU is Corsair HX750W 750-Watt Modular Power Supply. i don't think its power problem. i've had this comp for 2 years and it was working fine until Friday morning. Thas why i am thinking that the PCIE x16 is burnt out. was just wondering if i can make the PCIE x16_2 the primary adaptor instead of PCIE x16_1 or 3.

please double check the gpu is plugged into the external power PCIe cable as they sometimes come loose. Also chcek the card is seated correctly. IF this fails reset the CMOS and try again

i checked all the cables, rest the CMOS and still nothing.

i just noticed that on Code 25 i hear the long beep on start up and look in the manual and it was Shadow system/video BIOS error. i read on some other site that PS2 port may act funny on this kind of board so i took it out and now i hear the long beep at 25 and freeze on Code 7F error which is "POST error check--Check POST error and display them and ask for user intervention", now i have no idea what it means or what i have to do.

look to be honest this is a difficult one to work out. can you boot in safe mode. are you sure you have the correct bios settings? is your cmos battery too old? chekc the mobo manual for code explanations

looks as if the vga failed, due to the error codes, can you attempt to plug in a different adapter into slot one to test its functionality? if you dont have one, take the machine to a computer repair shop, and ask if they can try one for you, they may charge you some money but it will determine if the card is on the fritz, they can also try the card in a different board to test its basic functionality. vga cards die, this may be what happened unfortunately
