PCIx16, v.1, v.2, v.2.1???

Well PCIe 2.0 can run double the bandwidth of 1.0.

So it's like saying a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot is the same as a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot

As for 2.1, well that just means that it will be fully compatable with anything that comes out 3.0, but will still run at 2.0 speed.
 
Don't forget PCI-E 1.1

A lot of boards use it, and it's basically they same as 2.0, but maybe 1-2% less performance.
 
Use GPU-Z to find out. mouse over where it says "PCI-E x16 1.0/1.1/2.0/2.1"

It will tell what version the board has and what version the card has.
