I was thinking about buying the Hp Pavilion dv 8130. I chose this one over the dv 8140 model because it cost a bit less. the only thing is it doesnt come with the tv tuner or DVR . I was told that if I get a PCMCIA card i could install a tv tuner and would be able to use a dvr. i dont know how true this is. Is anyone familar with this. If so can you give me any recommendationds on what exactly do I need to get and the average prices. Thanks

There are PCMCIA capture cards, as well as USB capture cards. Though, I'm not sure how many have TV-Tuners in them, assuming that's what you'd want. Also, not many of them have onboard compression which is almost a nessesity with a DVR due to the amount of video being recorded. Otherwise, you'd get very choppy/low quality video.
Prices, I only know of USB cards right off, and ones without tuners with MPEG2 compression tend to go for around $100.
