PDF and MS word problem

Hi there

I have a problem win ms word and creating pdf's

ok with MS word i included a background using the following steps for ms word

format, background, fill effects, picture, select picture, ok

so now i have a background that i can write over and have the same background for many pages.

One problems is when i turn it into a pdf file the bacground dissappears and only the text lies there. But if copy and paste pictures, they stay?????
any ideas how i can keep that background there for every page ?

my next problems is im trying to create links in the document that will link to another area of the same document , that i dont know how to do.

I would be great for answers to both questions . Much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

MIchael

as far as the first problem,
first let me say that word does not really print backgrounds (and converting to pdf is technically a printing process). They are intended for on screen view.
You can try the following and will see that it doesn't print the way you want it to:
Notice that if you tried printing your document to paper, you would also not have the background. Anyway, in Word, go to Tools-options-Print TAB and in the MIDDLE section (called "Include in Document") put a check mark next to "background colors and pictures".

Now you can look at the Print Preview and see that the background is no longer white, but it has whatever picture or color you chose. What you see in the print preview is what will be sent (or at least what should be sent) to pdf. In reality when you try to print, you don't get a solid picture in the background, but rather a bunch of miniature versions of the picture.

So, to accomplish what you want, you can "trick" Word into it by following the same steps as if creating a watermark. You can read the steps on how to do that here: http://personal-computer-tutor.com/watermark.htm

As far as creating links to a place in that document... I assume you mean in Word? If you select the help menu in Word (press F1) and search for "create a hyperlink" and then scroll down the results until about the 14th result which is titled "create a hyperlink". From that you can select the option for a hyperlink to a location in the current document. The steps are outlined there for you.
