pdf size keeps changing!!

Hello out there,
I'm new to this forum, and I have a question about pdf's....my wife is a realtor so we scan and download many documents. We have an HP 8600 printer and software, when we scan in documents the size always changes...sometimes a single page can be 158k one time and the next it can be 3500k! what causes this variation and can it be controlled? we don't change any of the printer settings or the settings on the HP scan software. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is the content of the documents much different? My first guess would be some documents are primarily text, while larger ones contain more photos and colored text.

Many scanners have preset buttons for selecting black and white text, color text, color photos, etc. Are you using those same options as well?

Thanks for your reply, most documents are exactly the same and have only text, no pictures and no color

Have you looked in the option of the scanner if it is not set to auto? That would mean the auto option is bad and I would contact the brand service. Have you tried setting the options yourself?

At this point I would contact customer service, that's odd that those settings change by themselves.
