First off, I want to say hello to everyone, and say that this is a great site with a lot of information, but I got a specific question that I could not find an answer to.
I want to know if it is possible to swap a laptop CPU into a desktop. Here are the specifics:
Laptop:
Compaq Presario 1720US
Intel Pentium III M at 1.0 GHz (RH80530 1000/512)
mPGA479M socket
I could not figure out the motherboard.
Desktop:
Compaq Presario 6645C
Intel Celeron Processor 566MHz (x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3)
370 socket.
Cognac Motherboard.
I understand that there are limitations in OC a prebuilt computer but I would like to know if this were even possible with what I have. The laptop is more or less dead (screen is dead, power button does not work, hard drive is dieing). However, the desktop is running ok, just very slow for my taste. Both computers are just laying around, I wanted to give this a shot.
Thanks for any responses.
