pentium [email protected] or core 2 duo@ 2.2Ghz?

All things being equal, the C2D is the way to go. However, D-series are much cheaper, and still have a lot of beneficial uses. If you need every drop of performance from a CPU, get a C2D; if you want good performance and save a bit of $, go D900-series.

<---Loves Big D.

well like a pentium d on newegg costs 99 dollars, so you could get a 2.2GHZ e2200 for the same price, that will beat it at stock speeds

Damn. They were cheaper by a bit on Tiger, but of course, they're no longer available there...go figure.
