Pentium D 950 or Core 2 E6400?

Hi guys.

I am choosing a PC and not sure which one to go for with respects to the processor.

Please can you let me know which is best.

Intel® Pentium® D Processor 950 Dual core
2 x 3.40 GHz
800 MHz
Level 2 cache 2 x 2 MB
Intel® 945P express chipset

or

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400
2.13 GHz
1066 MHz
Level 2 cache 2 MB
Intel® P965 express chipset

I would appriciate any advice

The Core 2 Duo would be the best choice, by a land slide.

yep, C2D > Athlon 64 X2 > Pentium D
this applies per clock, performance overall, amount of heat each produces, and performance/price index.

actually, the e6300 outperforms the pentium D 950, so the e6400 definitely would.
