pentium D question

how badly does C2D blow the pentium D out of the water..lol
will i notice a big difference in everyday usage like browsing the net and editing music if i get a pentium D instead of C2D
how much of a difference will there be in video rendering times, between the pentium D and C2D?
im planning on getting this pentium D:

im a little confused, does the above pentium D have 1mb L2 cache for each core?
and 512kb L1 cache for each core as well?

i have a PD 945 and works good with multi tasking and is alot better then other processors that ive had experience since im into gameing im goin to be getting a C2D sometime soon but for just running apps and surfing the web u should be good with it.

But if I were you, I would get this Pentium D because it has higher FSB and faster speed, and it just cost $4.66 more

There is a big difference between Pentium D and C2D.
C2D can beat any Pentium D in any thing.

Yes the Core 2 Duo does run cooler, especially when compared to the 90nm Pentium D's.

avoid the Pentium D 805, its limited to an 533 mhz FSB and has serious heat issues. PS; it was the first dual core processor, the first dual cores where somewhat unstable. or at least thats what i hear. i would go with the 820 its 10$ more.

While it is limited to 166FSB, it has a very high multiplier, and was a very good budget CPU for overclocking. Many people got them up to nearly 4Ghz, though the cooling issue was major
. It wasn't quite the first dual core, it was released after most of the 8xx series. If you are going to stick with a Pentium D, go for the 9xx series.

dosent intel release procs in order by the 8xx or 9xx or whatever the serial no. is? 
im currently saving for a PD 915. u can
overclock , but u cant add L2 cache or change cores. thats why i went for the 915

The 133FSB (4x data rate = 533) on the 805 leaves you with a ton of overclocking room. As Jet already said, people have overclocked them to extremes
Intel releases processors in different orders, not just based on the model number.
On an unrelated side note, you know you can put your signature in your profile so you don't have to manually add it all the time don't you?
