If I search for people on facebook and go on their facebook page, are they aware of it? Does my name come up in the section-

do you know this person?

Also, when I go onto a friends site I cant always find their friends, I am friends with this person, why cant I access their friends?

How do I check how secure my site is without borrowing a friend's computer (who isn't a friend) and going onto my site?

I am worried that one person who isn't a friend will find out I know one of my friends!

No, not just because you visit their page.

Because people have the choice whether to make their friends list public or not.

On the top of your Facebook page, there is a "view as" button. You can view it as public or another friend to see what they see.
I am worried that one person who isn't a friend will find out I know one of my friends!

If you're that worried, block that person and make your friends list viewable to only your friends.

Yeah, this doesn't make any sense. I do believe you are allowed to have any friends you want. I'm sure the government doesn't tell you what people you can be friends with.

They can set their security so that no friends can see who their friends are.

Basically, all you need to do is check your security settings

There are some apps that are named, "who visited your profile page" but I don't know if or how well they work.
 
If you constantly browse someone's profile Facebook will in fact show the people you may know list and include you. I've had this discussion on another forum.

Make sure you look at every - single - damn- setting in Facebook.

BTW. Did you hear they are making a new social networking site that combines Myspace, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter? Yeah... It's called MyFaceYouTwit! LOL
 
Basically two and a half years ago I dated another girl 4 times just talking after first dating my current girlfriend for 2 months (who I now have a baby with) and this girl worked at the same hospital (massive one) as my girlfriend. Worried she is friends with girlfriend (probably isn't but want to know this.
 
So you (just) talked to your old girlfriend 4 times while you were dating your current girlfriend. If so what are you worried about? I would be worried about them meeting at the hospital, I'm sure there are people at the hospital that know you dated both.

Just talking but they were dates. Just worried that this girl is friends with my girlfriend. And as my girlfriends facebook settings mean I cant see her friends I have no way of knowing.

Also, how do you change your settings so friends in common isn't shown?

It has made me reluctant to change my profile page to one with girlfriend and baby in which I would like to.

Of course this other girl I dated 4 times is now with another bloke; hopefully she has forgotten me. Not even sure she knows my second name!

Why do you not want your ex-girlfriend to know that you now have a new girlfriend?
