performance question

While playing games in 2560x1440 sometimes windows pops up with do you want to change windows colour scheme. Ive got 8gb ram and a gpu with 3 gbs. surely this is enough? is the gpu not dedicating enough of its ram to the game or what?

It does not matter what your setup is it will ask that. Mine does it every time I Alt+Tab out to look up things. It is basically windows covering their arses from lawsuits based on "your OS slows down my computer" people. (which it does anyway).

Aero is turned off automatically as soon as Windows goes into 3D mode so thats nonsene.

Its a driver exception handling issue. Ensure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, updated direct X and the latest sound drivers and motherboard drivers.

Didn't realise linux ran aero? The cause of this issue. the whole point of the thread. Not bloody about linux vs windows. Nor is it a performance issue since it is off during gaming, and when on, a toaster could run.

Sometimes windows detects a performance issue and turns off Aero, that is normal. Don't fret about it. Also the *nix vs Windows thing? It is really old, if your going to talk about it, try finding people who care, and it wont be in this topic.

search performance in Windows and open up adjust the appearance and performance of windows. Set it to custom rather than let windows choose and hit apply. Hopefully that will solve it.

Like bigfella said, could be a driver issue. I got the problem from when I updated to the newest beta.
Just click the button; stay with current and don't show message again.

I get that error too. I click stay with the current configuration and never display the message again. I still get it every once in a while.
