could someone tell me what the diff is? i have a 1 gig celron, tualatin, fc-pga2, and a board that supports tualatin, cyrix, other p3's. but the physical socket doesn't show the -2 on the socket base. on post, the bios shows 667. the board doesn't match the manual so its an auto detect on the multiplier & fsb i recon, on this Altos AL-694T. my main question is that do i need that adaptor to pga2 tualatin? no os yet. one other item of interest-do all celron tualatins cpus have that large heat spreader? any help appreciated! thanks.....

FPGA2 has an hole allocated for supporting Tulatin procesors, which isnt available on FPGA boards. Although a Tulatin chip may fit in a FPGA board, it will not function to its maximum capacity (or at all). You can use older (Coppermine) chips however

You can get convertor units like this tho http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=S370TUA

"Newer" chips are based on the FPGA2 interface :)
