Sexy price for a sexy chip. Gotta give it to AMD once they get their chips correct they slap Intel silly for prices.

I hope their next chip matches the I7 but with a cheaper price tag. I always preferred Intel but my Q6600 was to good of a deal at the time (half price of the phenoms via craigslist) so had to do it.
 
cant go wrong with a good ole Q6600 that chip has proven its self time and time again still competes with new ones! :D i remmber when 95% of sigs in here had one in it when i had my old 9600 BE

I think their new CPUs which come out later this summer, i think will be catered more towards the budget crowd once again. I think it's an improvement on the 940 and another one. I think for around 200-250 price tag.
 
there's a big thread over at xs about how with the right board, bios, and some luck that you can actually unlock the other two cores :P
 
It's amazing really.

You can't touch an Intel chip with the same specs for
almost twice as much. Well, not quite.

I can definitely say, if I was doing the same dual core
build I did a few months ago for a customer, I would
choose this chip over the Intel one I bought.
 
Interesting Find. I think the Phenom II 550 is priced a little too high. For $9 more you could get the Phenom II 710 Tri-Core. A fair price for it would be about $90. The price usually drops pretty soon after the first few weeks.
