Phenom or i7

Just a quick question, as the title say which one is better I want to get the i7 at the end of the year once windows 7 is out, however someone told me that the Phenom is better for games is this true as what ive been reading about i7 suggests it is top notch for both gaming, multitasking, vid encoding/editing etc.

Is this correct or have I misunderstood something along the way.

Phenom is better for gaming, but i7 is better overall.

But if you consider how much better and think about the cost difference. The Phenom is a better overall choice.

In my opinion of course.

Re

Get the i7 its a better choise a quad-core i7 will be perfect ok i dont think the phenom has the performance that i7 has ..........

i7 is by far the best the Phenom has a few problems with it such as bad overclocking and a lot of power consumption. AMD are bringing out or have just brought of the Phenom 2 to try and fix all of this but its still not even as good as the Q6600

You obviously havent done your homework. AMD managed to overclock their phenom to 6.6 GHZ, a record.

The Phenom 2 is by far the best for gaming allowing you to play call of duty at 55 fps and the i7 only allowing 49 fps.

The older Phenom 9950 black addittion owns all by allowing you to play at 58 fps.

Yeah your right i meant the older Phenoms when they first came out.
I can tell your an AMD fan XD

Wait what, Phenom 1 Better at Gaming than a Core 2, Phenom 2 AND i7

What are you smoking?!

Please list your Sources..

i7's are also reaching 6.4GHz

You talking about what i said and i meant that the older Phenoms ahd problems with overclocking but no they are not better than anything in my view XD. Intel FTW!

My source is a leading computer magazine called computer shopper. Note my opinions arent from the magazine, purely the data i provided.

I own a phenom triple core processor and games work well with smooth flow.I have phenom with 4GB RAM and each every games work well.If you want more power then core 2 quad will be ultimate choice.
Good luck!

Here is one from Andtech and as you can see with at the bottom with 600 more mhz the P2 only get .3 fps more. (940 stock clock 3.2 compared to i7 920 at 2.6)

ok here it is,,, (((in real world you will never notice the difference))),, all those benchmarks dont mean anything, ive had 4ghz intel systems and 4 ghz Amd !! and in still wondering why we all fight over it (really depends on what side of the fence do you wanna stand on ? the blue or green? :D lets just all hold hands and play some bf2 together heh

It doesn't really matter. I'd go with AMD if you don't have the money for an i7 build, or just get a Q6600 and overclock that, the non-gaming/editing differences are negligible.
Whatever route you go, in a few months it'll be obsolete = AM3 boards, more Intel cpus, w/e

I guess it depends what set up the reviewers are using and if they do it accurately. Also the game that they are using.

Computer shopper tested the processers with the same set up and tested Call Of Duty 4 on them.
