phenom x4 and phenom x6

jonnyp11 i tested my graphics card with my friend 3.2ghz phenom x4 and i could run bf3 at 1080p medium setting 60-70 fps.
either cpu will be a big upgrade compared to my atlhon x2

the cpu support list for my motherboard included this
Phenom IIX6 1045T(HDT45TWFK6DGR),2.7GHz,95W,rev.E0,SocketAM3,6-Core
the one i want to buy says this
AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.70GHz AM3 Processor HDT45TWFGRBOX
will it still work?

Make sure you have the latest bios, and buy the FX6300. It's a pretty decent CPU for the money, and better than any Phenom II that you can stick in that board as it only supports 95w ones and all the good Phenom II's are 125w+.

Forget the 1045t, it's low clocks of 2.7ghz will hold you back and the extra cores won't help at all.

yes i updated my bios to the latest like a week ago.. and a question about the fx. will it perform as well as the phenom x4 3.2 ghz blacl edition?
@turbomaster yes i have the radeon 7770

Please stop talking about the Phenom II 955 or 965, IT WILL NOT WORK IT YOUR MOTHERBOARD. Is that clear enough? omg. Your board will only support 95w or less CPU's. Nearly all black edition CPU's are 125w or higher. THE ONLY black edition CPU that will work on your board is the Phenom II 960t, but it's hard to find them cheap. Otherwise, the next best CPU would be a Phenom II 945.

The 6100 is crap. You really need to suck it up for the 6300, it is hands down the best CPU in your situation UNLESS you can find a 960t for under $100.

Edit- If you've been looking at Newegg, they a $10 more expensive on the 6300 than tiger direct if that helps-

Yes, the 6300 is better then the one you linked to.

You can't use any 125watt cpu's as your board doesn't support it. Yes, your board may boot but it doesn't support that processor.

Get the 6300.

ok i willget the 6300 im guessing maybe a bios update enabled it to work find idk, going to contact asus.. curious. i was gaming the whole day with bf3 and gta iv... no hiccups or anything

If there was a bios update that supported the 955 or 965 they would show it on their website under cpu support. It's just that the board you have doesn't support any 125 watt cpu's and the 955 and 965 are 125 watt cpu's. But its very possible that the board will boot and work fine its just that the bios doesn't support that cpu. However, its very possible that if you used the 955 or 965 that you may end up having issues later down the road and you would have ended up wasting your money on that processor. We know your board supports the 6300 processor so get that one as its a six core processor which is better then the 955 and 965.

pretty strange that i used this cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808
at my friends house and my motherboard doesn't even support it and it ran perfectly fine and i got good fps at every game i tested...... could it be a bios update or something that made it now be supported because i did update my bios to the latest..
and another question is the 6300 as good as the phenom in the link?

Are you sure it was a black edition? There was one 955 that was a 95w model-

HDX955WFK4DGM

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom II X4 955 - HDX955WFK4DGM.html

But its not a black edition.

Just because your board booted and ran with that processor doesnt mean its supported. Your board has a 95W limit. The reason is it only has a 3+1 power phase with older style mosfets with no heat sink. With it under load he board will run hot especially the mosfets.
