Phone call = no intarwebs?!?!

Ok.
So.
For the past few months.
I randomly lose internet.

Irritates the hell out of me.
Especially when I'm gaming, disconnects me out of the MMO and what not.


But anyway.
I recently noticed that everytime someone calls the house, the internet dies.
So I tried it for myself, used my cell.. called the house..
Sure enough, internet cuts out... then takes a minute or two to reconfigure itself or something.

I'm using DSL -> to a wireless router.
Then the router, runs a cable through our home, to our upstairs... In to a D-link Switch.
Which gives internet to all the computers upstairs.

My laptops wireless internet connect is never interrupted.
Just seems like my computer is the only one that gets axed everytime a phone call comes in.
Starting to get very annoying, lmao.
and I take it out on the person that just called my house =)
haha.

suggestions?
 
It almost sounds like a problem with your wiring or ISP. Each phone requires a filter so it only receives the voice channels and not the data. However, this shouldn't affect the internet...

Just a random thought, but try disconnecting anything from your regular dialup modem, if you do have anything connected.
 
Wow the memories........................I had the EXACT same problem 3 years ago when I had Verizon DSL. Once someone would call, the internet would freeze and log off. I called Verizon 12x times in one day because of this and to make a LONG story short after really tearing into Verizon and going up to th 4 tier I was finally told that I was to far away from the Distro center and I was SOL. It would have been nice if they told me this WHEN I SIGNED UP!!! So after fighting with them tooth and nail I finally got all 6 months of my service returned to me and I went with Cable.

My recommendation to you is call up your provider and ask them how far away you are from the Disto Center, I'm willing to bet you are right on the out skirts.

Also DO NOT beleive the check service programs on sites liek Verizon because I entered my address into their "check for service" program and it said I could get DSL when I know for a fact that where I live there is no DSL Service.
 
So I was checking all the phones and stuff.
Making sure the filters are good.
and unplugging them

I check my mom's phone.
and there isn't one on there.. I'm like.. well.. maybe that's it...?
So I unplug it, and then call the house about a dozen times, no connection dropped once.

Then she comes up and she's like, what are you doing?!!?!?
Then I said there's no filter on your phone, blah blah.
Then she goes in the room, and she pulls out the filter from under her bed and she's like you mean this thing? *holds it up* it was annoying me so i took it off, but that was months ago.



Same time this started happening...
Ugh.
Problem solved -.-
