phone software, whats out there?

What i want to do and what i am able to do may be 2 different things but ideally i want to re-direct my texts and calls from a mobile to my pc. Is there any software out there that will allow me to do this.

Any help would be much appreciated.
 
Google Voice and Skype would be the two leading choices. Skype has been around for a lot longer and is a bit more polished and user friendly, but has higher rates and requires a monthly subscription. Google Voice provides a free number, can be used from GMail, and includes free calls to US and Canada. I've used both and have been happy with both, but Google Voice is simply an excellent service that does many things for free that Skype charges you for.
