Photobucket help

Hi guys, I keep getting a warning on photobucket that my pro account will expire. The thing is, I never remember paying for a pro account, and I'm pretty sure I've never had one. Just the standard basic account. I've also noticed that they say that if your photos are over 30GB of bandwidth they have the right to do blah blah blah. Well my account has hit about 35.7GB, I've already cleared out two pages of old pics prior to this, and I don't want photobucket to reduce the quality or delete my images, so what do I do?

I notice under my account type it says pro, but I never bought pro status. I smell something dodgy here. Can anyone enlighten me as to what exactly is going in?

I haven't had that happen, yet.
I have 6 separate free accounts so I don't have to worry about bandwidth usage.

Are they talking about storage space or bandwidth used by views.

Bandwidth by views, though they advertise unlimited.

I've also noticed that everywhere says my account is pro except when you change the upload options, where it says "Pro account holders always have their original files available for viewing and downloading."

So basically they're lying and my account is not a pro one, because I never bought it.

This reeks of false advertisement and misinformation. I don't think they'll be getting away with this.

Hi there!

My name is Roz, I work on the Customer Support Team here at Photobucket. We have a Google alert set up looking for support questions on the web, this is how I found you.

First off, a Pro account is set up either by you paying for it or by us here at the office giving you a free subscription. Last year in April, we had a outage on the site. We emailed the effected users letting them know about the issue and giving them a free year of the Pro subscription for the inconvenience. Since you don't remember paying for the account, the second scenario is probably what happened with your account.

MyCattMaxx is leaning in the right direction referring to storage space vs. bandwidth. A free Photobucket account has unlimited storage space (meaning how many files you upload). The limitations on the Free accounts are that you only have 10 GB per month of bandwidth and you cannot upload & download the original size of the image. Here's an article that explains bandwidth - http://photobucket.zendesk.com/entries/21086317.

If you are at 35.7GB in your account now, when the Pro subscription expires your linking will be disabled until your one month anniversary comes around. This date is in your Account Settings. See MyCattMaxx's note above on how to... work with bandwidth.
