Photoshop Question

I am trying to improve my Photoshop skills, and would like to do all possible to make it easier. Would I have any advantage of having a Green Screen? Not like a permanent setup, but maybe having a green sheet rolled up, and hanging it up whenever I need to use it, would I need a certain kind of material?

If you know any other tips, that'd be great.

I am pretty much covered with Photoshop Tips within the program, but am open to hear more. I am looking more for other things that can help, maybe camera settings, extra equipment and stuff.

Thanks.

I use a white bed sheet to hang for stuff like this. I hope you have a good lighting setup though because that's just as important in achieving a uniform background!

Yeah, I can work with lights, I assume any kind of light would do? Like lamps or something that are aimed at the screen.

And a white bed sheet would work as well? How is that? Does the color not matter?

Thanks.

The color is up to you. White works fine for me, but green might be better for cutting strands of hair away from the background.

As for lighting, that's sort of a weighted answer. What exactly are you going to be photographing? That's what will determine your answer.

The key to lighting is creating a level amount of light across the whole bckgrnd and eliminating any shadows that your subject might cast.

Ah, thats the thing, I am not sure what exactly I'll be putting in front of the screen. I know I'll put it to use, but not sure yet.

Thanks.

You'll want to use a color that isn't common, that's basically the only criteria when it comes to choosing a color for the sheet.

Ah, OK. Does it matter what material the sheet is? I know Ukulele said he uses a Bed Sheet, but does it have to be something exact?

Thanks.
