Physx Card

Does anyone think it's worth it to get the Physx card? It's gone down $30 since I last looked at it and is now $89.99. I'm not sure if I have any other games other than UT3 that support it though. I know that my 9800GX2 can utilize the technology, but having a separate card would take the load off of my GPU, and I heard that only the GTX 200 series can truely use the technology to the fullest.

If someone could bring up a list of the games that have physx it would be helpful.

Well I don't have the list, but I know that most new games support it. And not only the 200 series truly supports it.
I recently got the 9600GT (Inno3D Version) and it full supports, it came with a game (full version) that supports it, Crysis does.
It is fully worth it.

Pfft to be honest i think it would be a waste of money and a PCI slot since the new GFX cards with CUDA support have physx enabled there snot much point in a physx card. Wait till next eyar they are bringeing out big changes to the physx support in nvidia cards such as UT3 will have an update which you can knock down walls and stuff, it also boosts framerate. But overall dont get one it will be awaste of money.
Next year the 8800GT, 260 and 280 i think are the ones with the support but that might change

what about the PHYSX card with ati4850's in crossfire?

Could be worth it, since ATI don't really support PhysX at the moment. Though there aren't that many games that really use it.

nVidia just released a new version of their PhysX drivers, so far, they're really good.

yeh i understood that ati dont have PHYSX yet so i thought it would benifit the ati user more!

just thinking about it because overclockers have sold out all the gainward ati4850's so i might invest in a PHYSX card ubtil they restock!

Yeah, it probably would do! Just not sure by how much though, since there isn't that much that uses one properly.

Oh sweet! How much are they? Let me know if you get one! ;)

i think i could get one for £50 delivered!

so there is no point in getting one of these cards runnning nvidia cards as they have the PHYSX built in?

That's a pretty sweet price!

As far as I'm aware, there's no point. They have PhysX abilities, but I think it'd be better to get a dedicated PhysX card if you really wanted to have full PhysX... 'Cause the card has to render the video and render the Physics (which takes some of the load off the CPU). You'd see better results with a PhysX card, which would allow the video cards to do nothing but the video.

At least they have some of the abilities I guess.

I was told crysis has it's own physx engine and doesn't support it.

But I was thinking that to keep my two GX2's running faster for longer, once I get the second one anyway, that it'd help to have a dedicated Physx card so that my graphics cards can focus on their main purpose. Unless this card can't keep up with the physx of a game, I think it's worth it.
