PhysX cards

Hey guys,

Just wandering...ive been dreaming about my next comp...i would like it to have a 8800GTS 320Mb

So my question is....would also adding a PhysX card improve the graphics even more or are PhysX cards a waste of money?

Because i will want to play Crysis on the new pc so i want all the graphics power i can get

and would a 8800 work alongside a PhysX card?

Heya

From what I know, they are not the smartest thing to get especially because not a significant amount of titles support it. I would suggest you buy it only if you intend to play games that are known to make use of it. As far as CRYSIS is concerned, it will not have PhysX support:

PhysX card is just a big waste of money, and as I know the upcoming games such as Crysis and Alan wake will not have PhysX support

Instead of wasting your money on PhysX card, get 8800GTS 640MB or even a 8800GTX.

I thought Crysis would have needed a PhysX card but now then i will put the cash towards a good Sound card

You'd be better of getting another 8800. PhysX cards hasn't really taken off.

yeah but wouldnt i get lower FPS using 2x 8800 tham just using the single 8800?

Why would you get lower frame rate? You will have a monster in your hands if you SLi two 8800s.

The 8800s do alot of their own physics processing now. Dont get PhysX

I've seen sli tests done with two powerful cards with some of the games actually getting lower fps than with a single... i can't remeber where though

That said the low Vram on the GTS may actually give very unsatisfactorable SLI results.. In some future games that utilize Vram to a further extant you may not see an increase in a sli setup over a single card. But given the fact that we don't know how much vram dx10 games require my above statement could prove utterly false... well good luck anyways!

I know, that is a known issue, some games DO run slower with SLi, but that is true for ALL SLi setups, and that is considered a Bug, so the games developes are developing patches and the such to rectify the problem. I like to look at 3dmark score, they are the standard, and two powerful cards in Sli config far outperforms a single one.

heh.. instead of SLI-ing 2 'crappy' 8800GTS's (320mb) you could rather get a single 8800GTX tough.

either way, physx card would be a waste imo, better invest the money into a quad core CPU then, wich would (if the game supports it) do about the same thing. (1 core calculating the physics only i mean)
