Are you going to be playing any games? If you are, i would go with the AMD, if your not going to be playing games or very few, i would go with the Intel, and you might be able to slide with a 2.6 or 2.8Ghz, which would save you some money (only if your not going to be playing games that is)

no this copmuter would not be used for any games. so i can go with intel 2.8 to save money, good idea.

i just saw that the 2.66 has a 533 mhz FSB as opposed to 800 FSB for 2.8.
the prices are 182 and 215 respectivly. is it a big difference?

1. go for the second one (with the ASUS motherboard) and dont even bother buying a videocard as it has onboard

2. you cant use DDR2 on the ASUS board (or GB one either). you'll be looking at DDR memory (and since yer more concerned with stability from what im seeing, maybe consider pc3200 memory since you shouldnt be overclocking)

3. your PSU is prolly underpowered for the system you should consider something beefier (suggestions in the PSU 101 as well as why i say its not so great)

4. got any optical drives? if none yet, some suggestions in CD/DVD 101.
