pictures and paint

I've recently reinstalled my comp, and, I've come across something that's not happened before, when I open a picture and click the "closes this program and opens up the picture for editing" or whatever it says, I click and the picture closes but paint doesn't open...any ideas on how I can fix this?

if u want picture editing.. try a better program..

i recommend adobe photoshop cs2

but there are free ones.. try download.com and search for image editing

Don't know, how do I set that up?

right click, propertys, where it says Open with, click on change, go tp paint then check off Always use this program to open this type of file.

Windows pixture viewer is my default for opening pictures, it alwyas has been but when I click the symbol....looks like a picture with a pen on it, it is sposed to open paint but instead just shuts the picture...I reinstalled and everything was fine and now its started doing it again...could a program be buggering it up?
