when you put in dvd, it brings up autoplay, but only options for cd.

dvd came with pioneer install disc and ulead.

reinstalled, same thing. autoplay only lists options for cd's, not dvd's.

but with u lead, i could burn a dvd.

and it plays dvd's

device manager says operating properly. on windows xp.

any suggestions? thanks

Windows XP doesnt natively support DVD burning. To burn DVDs you have to use the third party software.

no matter what, xp will always do autoplay as cd?

what third party available?

have u lead now....

also have old version nero...5 i think? that work? how many third party programs i need? which the best?

It could just be your drivers, maybe you have the wrong one installed for the DVD drive. It seems like you are trying to say that it runs/works fine but doesn't label them correctly when they are being identified.

no, sorry, i meant autoplay had no dvd options. its reads dvds ok, and burns them using ulead(3rd party software supplied by pioneer)

It probably is a setting for the autoplay options. Play around with it and see what you can come up with.
