Pioneer DVR-118L won't read burned DVD's

My burner burns DVD-R's (images or data) but won't read what it just burned. Other drives will read what this Pioneer just burned though. It also won't read any other DVD-R data or image disc. It will read DVD movies (from the movie store) and any CD of any kind. When I put this drive in any other PC, it will burn DVD-R's and read them (and read other burned DVD-R's). So it must be something to do with my PC. I have:

ASUS A8V-E SE
2gb RAM
250gb HD
Win XP Pro SP3
Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Also I have Win 7 Ultimate as a dual boot with XP and the Pioneer drive still won't show any DVD-R.

Most likely its a hardware issue with the drive, like the reading laser on it is bad or dirty or its possible you need a firmware update on the drive to be compatible with different brands of media.

Except that the burner works properly with any other PC running Win 7 or XP Pro SP3. And on the other PC's (older and newer), the media I'm using is the same type as on my PC. I updated the firmware from 1.01 to 1.02. It gave an error at the end but it still seemed to update it. It's still doing the same thing though. Also the drive is brand new (1 week old), so probably no dust.

Some hardware devices are not not compatible with other hardware in your PC, this happens at times so you might need to put another brand DVD into your PC.
This is a fact of life with computers.
