Pixar's Cars DVD

Ok, I rented Cars yesterday and decided to watch it on my computer today. My DVD player works fine, plays other DVD movies without problems, plays DVD games, plays regular CD's. But it won't play Cars. I've gotten this movie to play on my other computer's DVD burner, and on my XBox. I don't get what the problem is here, can someone help me?

Well the obvious question, do you have a DVD-ROM in your computer :P Does anything come up? What errors do you get? Do you have a player and a MPEG2 decoder installed?

*looks at original thread*

my dvd drive works fine with other dvd movies/games, it is set to region 1, I have installed Power DVD (which installs the necessary codec(s)). This has me puzzled. I don't get any errors, it just doesn't read the disc(keep making a weird noise, like an err, uh, err, uh when trying to read this disc). I know the disc isn't bad because I tested it in my Xbox and the other computer. This isn't a matter of wanting to watch the movie, it's a matter of wanting to know what's wrong :)

Haha, sorry :o Hmm... Is the disk in decent shape? Have you tried to clean it or anything. I have had disks that woudn't read in certain computers due to the scratches and all in them. The error recovery and all with some drives isn't as good as others.

my guess is it's some kind of anti-copy scheme that's causing problems when you try and play it with your computer

disney and sony are known to go a little overboard with their dvd security crap

I don't know how Disney is, but man, Sony had that huge problem with their audio CDs if I recall correctly. Some crazy copy protection crap that left a security hole open

Though this could cause the problem, I kind of doubt it... But with today's copy protection, who knows. I've had games(legit ones) that I plain couldn't get to work due to copy protection!

try downloading the program called any dvd
it removes copy protection and lets you play dvd
also the cars dvd is dual layer maybe your dvd drive dont support dual layer dvds
