1GB of Ram? You'll want 2GB, unless you already have a set.
thanks for your replies,
taylormsj, actualy i would probably just get 2 gig to start with and at a later date upgrade to another 2 gb....you can never have enough ram
and i do plan to play Crysis so i suppose it will be a very demanding game.
i want my new rig to last quite a while so thats why ive gone with Quad core rather than Dual core as i dont want to keep upgrading all the time![]()
No offense but whats wrong with you lol. 3 gigs IMO is silly as id rather 2 gb's dual channel than 3 GB's and no dual channel. You probs wont use up 2 gig's, but then again i dont know what things you do and run. Thats my opinion, otherwise looks like a nice build. What monitor do you have? As id recommend the 320 mb version of the 8800 unless you have a big monitor![]()
Are you kidding me??? 3gb of RAM in single channel will out perform 2gb in dual channel any day of the week. Dual channel is over hyped, and when it comes down to it doesn't make a HUGE difference. Another gigabyte of RAM will deliver much more noticable speed increases vs less RAM in dual channel.
Also, getting a 8800GTS 640mb will not be a waste if you have a small monitor...in fact, it has nothing to do with it at all. The 640mb version will deliver much better graphics, no matter what resolution (or size) your monitor is. In addition, I'm pretty sure most 8800GTS 320 and 640mb can output video signals at the same resolution, so I'm not really sure why you're saying that he should get the 320mb version unless he has a big monitor.
