Playing CoD4... BAM! shutdown

So this has happened twice: I've been playing CoD4 singleplayer and then all of a sudden without any warning my system just goes off. no warning, no slowdown in the game, no heat issues AFAIK. the first time was on the container ship, the second time when i used the NVG's. The system just cuts power for some reason. I lowered my memory to stock clocks (800mhz) so i'll see if that helps.

Anyone ever experience anything like this? Any suggestions? I might try disabling CPU thermal control in the bios. my cpu might be going over 60*C
 
you wont know what temps you gpu is getting to in game, that might be making it shut down

you have your cpu oc'd, ram and gpu which will create alot of heat and pull power from the psu!

try turning your gpu fan up to %55 and play cod 4 just as a test

could be psu failure on full load or excesive heat
 
Just happened again with RAM at stock, along with CPU and GPU. This doesn't happen with any other game, and i'm consistently getting 45-75fps in cod4, so something is fishy. I've stress-tested everything i've overclocked for 6 hours.. my CPU never got over 55*c in prime95... but my GPU will max out at 75*C, which worries me. I think i'll keep my card at stock speeds... for now.

I though it might be my powerboard having too much put into it, so i plugged everything in seperately.

I disabled the thermal shutdown in the BIOS.

My GPU fan is set to 75% always.. the stock of 39% is very low, and it doesn't go higher (i had to change the speed in rivatuner, as CCC doesn't have an option for fan control)

And a little off topic: is there any way i can make my 140mm case fan spin faster? It's only going at 600rpm. i don't have a fan controller anymore, it broke :P otherwise it would be at 1200rpm... it's plugged into the mobo, but speedfan can't change it.

Well, i'm pretty sure far cry 2 is more intensive, along with assassin's creed, but they have never crashed on me. well, fc2 did before i patched it.

EDIT: I had this installed before and it didn't crash... same setup. Meh, i've had enough cod4.
