Playing HD DVD'S on PC

So i downloaded a Simpson's episode that was in HD. Can i just simply get a media player like VLC Player and play the episode in HD or do i have to burn it to a disk and then buy a HD DVD drive for the PC ??

You should just be able to play it through your computer like it is, but you must use either an hdmi output or dvi.
 
Thanks i have an DVI TO HDMI connecting my PC to My HDTV.
Do i have to have a specific media player like VLC to play the HD content ??

Well thanks for your help.
Would i be able to play Blu Ray movies of the Hard Drive or would i need a Blu Ray drive ?
 
Though so.
I have heard that you can copy Blu ray movies onto Dual Layer disks and then play them on an Unscaled DVD player. Do you have any idea if this is true ?
