Playing .m4a files on winamp

Anyone know how I could get .m4a files to play on winamp?

Winamp >= 5.64 should be able to natively.

Were they purchased through Itunes? If so, you won't be able to play them as they have DRM in them.

I got V 5.666, but it won't play.

The files are not off iTunes, they're just free podcasts off soundcloud.

Are you getting an error message when trying to play them files? If so, what does it say?

No error message, it just skips it over in the playlist.

What is the bitrate for these m4a files?

How do I check that? All I could find is that sample rate is 44100 Hz, don't know if that helps or is related.

I installed it, but still nothing.

Your files may be corrupt then. Or the specific type of format is unplayable via winamp.

Its not corruption, because no file with this extension will play and they play fine in VLC. I guess winamp can't play them.

I can't remember where I saw it online, but they said that if it was a certain bitrate, winamp wouldn't be able to play it. The file properties should be able to tell you the bitrate it was done in.
