Playing music while recording

Hey!

I just started DJ:ing and need to record some music. I can connect the equipment to my computer, but if I record with the recorder-program that comes with windows, I can´t listen to the music as I play it, only after being recorded.

So I need a program with which I can listen to the music I play, and if possible also record it at the same time.
Though hearing it at all is a problem for me, so I really need help with that first.

Thanks!

Hey,

I like the use Audacity!

You can have the sound play while you record which is handy!

It's also free and easy to use and you can have multiple tracks!

Thanks man, never thought of Audacity.. It´s a good prog..
But is there none with windows that lets you do this?

Nope, there aren't any other than the stupid little recorder that come with it, not worth trying to be honest, Best bet is Audacity or something similair!

Just installed audacity, and can´t hear the music while playing. Only after recorded, as with the recorder that comes with windows.. How do I change this?

Open it then go to:

Along the top: Edit > Preferences (at bottom) and then on the first TAB called Audio I/O there is a tick box at the bottom that says Software Playthrough, Check it :D

Should work!

Whoa doood!
Man I´m gonna go offline now, ´cause I gotta mix!
You should be very happy to know that you just made someones nice a very good one!
Thanks once again!

Why WMI??

Btw, I started mixing, and it´s good, it´s just sad it´s a delay which is kinda disturbing..
But anyways, now I wanna duplicate the signal, so that I can record on the comp at the same time as I send the signal to the stereo, so that I get the sound out without delay..
Is that possible??
