Hi i have a quite old sony vaio laptop, it is windows xp compatible however whenever i start it, it says boot manager is missing.
I have no internal cd/dvd drive, as it broke so i have got an external one.
SO i tried to boot windows xp from the external dvd drive but it jsut comes up to boot manger is missing. And i have set the boot priority to optical drive first then hard drive then floppy then network.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I would guess that its trying to boot from the internal cd/dvd drive and not recognising the external drive, i would go back in bios and see if its detected and if you have an option to boot from "other" or "usb" there may be other options but im not sure of the bios in a vaio

no it doesnt have any other options. and it wont recognize the external drive and theres no usb boot. is there anything i can do network boot? or something
