ok, i just got a BFG nvidia 8800 GT OC. after i put it in and turn on the power the moniter tells me something like "cannot display resolution (optimal resolution 1440*900)". keep in mind i uninstalled the drivers for my previous card, and even updated my moniter driver. my moniter model is a dell S199WFP if that helps anybody. maybe install the nvidia drivers now?? with the ati still in?? aaargh! please help!

Does this message display before booting into Windows? If so it's not a driver issue. Make sure the 6 pin PSU dongle is set up correctly, and that the PSU is sufficient (400watt, 26amp +12v).. maybe try resetting the BIOS/CMOS, I dunno if that'll help.

If otherwise, pop into safe mode with the ATI, install the correct nvidia drivers, shut down, pop in the GT, voila. You shouldn't have to do this as Windows will load a generic driver, but whatever, Windows is weird.

yes it appears before windows, the monitor itself displays the message. im not sure exactly what this means "Make sure the 6 pin PSU dongle is set up correctly...", that the card is properly connected to the power supply? everything else should be fine i 500 watts and all else is nominal.
