please help bt broadband

im gettin really annoyed now with BT, iam currently on thier 8mb service, on my hub router manager says my downstream is 4600kps, great lovely steady speed, but anything i try to download or stream is really bad, downloading is about 30kb/s and streaming well i can barely watch a video on youtube now as it cant keep up, it was ok 3 days ago and just went like this all of a sudden computer is refreshed everything, filters changed etcetc, rang bt they go, o its fine says downstream of 4600 so they will do bugger all, can someone please help!!!

If you are getting that speed for definite then I guess it's something on your pc. Have you done malware scans? Have you checked exactly what's running?

Perhaps a HijackThis log would be useful.

Run it with the option to create a log and then post the log on here so that someone can look it over.

Just had a thought, are you using wireless on the hub? Is it secure? Wondering whether one or more of your neighbours might be using an unsecured connection. Can't tell you how to check that I'm afraid as I don't have a home hub.

I have a similar problem with Plus Net. I have their 8mb download package, but a lot of my downloads seem to run around the 30-40kb/s mark.
Downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers for my graphics card last night, I thnk the average speed settled on 45kb/s.
