I currently have a built comp. Uses amd sempron cpu and a biostar motherboard. A few days ago I kept getting a blue screen that said error message start physical memory dump. I would restart the comp after that. Then i was given an unmountable_boot_error every time I booted up my comp. I tried to make sure all of the hardware was connected properly. THe next time i turned he computer on i receive a couldn't open drive multi disk partition error every time i turned the comp on. For some reason now when i turn it on it just gives me a long beep and nothing loads or boots or comps up on the screen. Help me please.

That long beep is a result from the P.O.S.T, power on self test. This is where your computer will find hardware problems. The long beep will indicate a problem. I dont know what it is but youl find it somewhere.

The computer beeps when i first turn it on. It doesnt boot or anything. The monitor stays black and it just continues to beep until i turn it off.

it beeps kinda long once and then just keeps repeating itself. I think it mght be my board. its the only thing i can think of.

Lostchick, what exact model of Biostar mobo do you have?
Here's what the beep codes are for my own Biostar:
Yours may be different, so we need the exact model for a search on the Biostar site.

like the chart shown above, I say it is the RAM. It sounds like it. Try out some different RAM, and let us know.

Yeah, it might be just a single stick of RAM. So try taking some of it out, if might only be one faulty stick.

Yeah try switching out sticks of ram, but the blue screen with the unmountable_boot_error sounds like it could have a bad hard drive as well..

Thank you guys so much it was the ram. I actually just moved the same stick into a different slot. I will still replace it though. I have to now reinstall XP on my comp. YOu guys are the greatest THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

You had to re-install XP due to bad RAM? usually XP will take advantage or just use the amount of RAM it is givin, even if you switch it.

Might I ask before you got the beeps.....Did your PC freeze a lot of times for no reason at all?
