I just recently, yesterday in fact, made some upgrades to my computer. My specs before were

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (754 socket)
GIGABYTE K8 Triton mobo
1GB PNY DDR 400 PC3200 RAM
PNY GeForce 7800 GS (AGP 8x)

and everything ran fine. I was playing Oblivion, World of Warcraft, Warcraft 3, all of it worked. My processor was laggin behind a bit so I decided to get a 939 board and upgrade the processor.

I bought a AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 for $199 (Great deal from newegg!) and got a GIGABYTE K8 Triton 939 version. Its a bit different then the last one. Anyway, the processor also came with a free 3Gbps SATA 250MB harddrive and I set that one to primary. I backed up, formated, and installed XP MCE on the SATA drive. Everything seemd to be fine UNTIL I installed WoW.

I start it up and nothing shows up. Its just a black screen but I can hear everything. So I installed the newest nVidia drivers and still, a black screen. Then I install the newest version of Direct X and it still doesn't work. Starting to get discouraged, I install oblivion and the SAME THING HAPPENS!!! Just a black screen but I can hear everything. Then I install Warcraft 3 and once again, its just a black screen. So then I updated the BIOS on my mobo and that didn't work. And now I am running out of ideas as to whats wronge. I KNOW this graphics card works because I was just using it yesterday. Please, any ideas?

Just to make sure it's not the graphics card,if you have any old graphics card install it to your new pc and try running the games you mentioned.

Ok, I found what was wrong. I installed Windows Vista beta edition (RC1) on my other 250gig and didn't run the mobo drivers. I tried but Vista wouldn't have it so I said oh well. I installed a game and it worked! :) At least it wasn't a hardware issue. So then I went back to XP and checked out what mobo drivers I had installed. The ULi chipset drivers that came on the disc are apparently older and that controles the AGP slot so I went to ULi's site and got the newest drivers for my chipset. Re-installed the graphics drivers I had and eveything works fine now. Thanks
